We were docked an hour or so before we even woke up. St. Kitts was by far the smallest island that we went to. We started our day again with breakfast and a smoothie. We then made our way to the port and walked around just shortly before posting up at a bar in the middle of the walk way and had a drink before it was time to meet for our excursion. We signed up for a 4x4 Island Safari and weren't exactly sure what to expect but it turned out great.
We hopped onboard the large 4x4 military looking vehicle and got good seats looking out on the left side. The driver was born and bred St Kitts and throughout the journey he would tell us his stories of growing up there and the changes that the island undertook. There is basically one large road that goes around St Kitts (population of 40k) and it depended solely on tourism. They used to export a few items including sugar cane but that was abandoned many years ago. Once we basically got to the end of the island we stopped off at a beach. Surely enough even though the description said to bring a towel some people were shocked that we stopped at a beach. We were prepared and after some rum punch we made our way to the water. The water was the perfect temperature but it was a bit windy so it was somewhat cold when we got out. The water was very blue and clear but lacked waves. We were at the beach for an hour before boarding the 4x4 and heading back to the port. We got back on the boat and made our way to the Sunset bar again to have some Sangria and enjoy the view.
The rest of the night was about standard – went to dinner and walked around the boat stopping off to have a drink here and there. We played a bit more slots and lost another $20 but we made it last a bit longer than the last $20.
