We Leave Tonight!

We both woke up early this morning - Lora at 6:30 and me at 5:30. We're working on getting on the South Africa schedule but today we're both going to be tired. Luckily some good news got us off the the right start. We were able to book a full day tour that we really wanted to on our full free day on Saturday - http://www.sowetotour.co.za/soweto-apartheid-museum.html.

We're all packed up - mainly due to Lora's planning and me throwing some stuff together last minute. I like to think that even though I was not directly involved with putting actual objects in the bag I was an integral part to this whole packing ordeal - half the stuff is mine at the very least.

Here are the bags.

The plan is to check the large one and one of the smaller bags and then carry on the other smaller bag. My carry-on items are going to be our 2 camera bags - the small one is basically empty and the large one is...well it weighs well over 20lbs. I'm extremely happy with the large camera bag (thanks mom for the bday gift) - it's surprisingly comfortable for being so heavy. When we're walking around town we'll lighten the load by not carrying everything inside of it by quite a bit. It'll still likely weigh 15-17lbs. On game days we're only taking the small bag however, and it will only have the camera and a single lens due to some FIFA regulations that limit what you can take into the games.

When we hop on the puddle jumper to Kruger Park we'll be leaving the large bag and small camera bag at the airport and then checking the 2 smaller bags - the weight limit for this flight is insane and we're limited to 8kg (17.6lbs) for our carry on bags and on the TripAdvisor forums people say they weigh all bags. This will require some shuffling of camera equipment and likely leave Lora with am 8" long 3.5lb lens in her purse.

Holy freakin' crap I'm excited!

The USA/Algeria game starts in a little under 3 hours and it's the defining moment thus far in our chances to see them. Basically, we need Slovenia to lose to or tie with England, but if England wins they can't win by 1 more goal than we win by due to how the tiebreakers are done. Oh and we need to win as well. Luckily Algeria is the worst team in Group C, but if they win then they can still advance if England/Slovenia tie or Slovenia wins. Everyone will be playing hard today.
